SKATEISTAN is a non-profit skateboard school teaching the youth of Kabul, Afghanistan how to skate and more... The school engages growing numbers of urban and internally-displaced youth in Afghanistan through skateboarding, and provides them with new opportunities in cross-cultural interaction, education, and personal empowerment programs. Since Skateistan has been active in Kabul, we’ve seen that Afghan youth of all ethnicities, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds love to skateboard. Skateistan brings them together, equipping young men and women to lead their communities toward social change and development. www.SKATEISTAN.org

woodward
went to woodward to see buzzy, lindsay, and tim and all i got was this giant chip!
ok, not true. i got a great time and saw a whole bunch of people. woodward built a new plaza type thing and really that is all i skated. plus they have been playing daily games of skate so i got roped into more games last week than i had ever played before. i lost them all, but landed tricks i hadn't done in years, if ever.
preston made it all the way to the finals but lost. to his credit i bet preston had more fun losing than the kid had winning.
good on ya: Ari, Ted, Bucky, Preston, Jeff, Brian, Tim, Lindsay, Ben, and Buzzy.
all in all a great time.

minute number 2
ah the open road
some friends and i high tailed it to PDX for a great weekend of skating, sun, swimming and some beers too.
josh along with parker and andreas got some much needed sleep on the ride up.
doug, eric, and i on the other hand took in the scenery and listened to bootleg homer all the way up.
i've never really been one to stop and take pictures at parks. i usually just skate and forget to document anything. the good news this trip is that i got some of eric's boardslides, andreas' tailslide, the bad news is i deleted parker's noseblunts. just one more reason to go back, i think.
after suffering the heat for a little too long josh crashed out with diesel in george's back yard. oddly enough right next door to buzzy's first place in PDX.
saturday had more heat and more skating. but more importantly we hit up this river and cooled down the best way possible. jumping in a river. it was a little local yocal but who cares this place was great.
thanks george for showing us around
and derrick for the assist on getting us around and letting us crash at his place.
well now that i have left out too many details and hilarity i will end with my traditional trunk (back of van) pic.
